Video: The Property Collectives model – March 2021 information session

This interactive information session was for people who are interested in potentially joining or creating a future Collective in Melbourne. Since 2010 we've created 10 collectives, building 80 homes using this joint venture model of citizen-led development.

In this 90 minute talk & Q&A session, held on March 23 2021, Tim Richardson and myself discuss:

• our learnings from 10 years of managing citizen-led housing projects,
• how the model works,
• the key stages in a collective development process,
• our experience in helping groups with site acquisition and securing development finance
• the pros and cons of the model,
• how you can initiate or participate in your own project

We are joined by fellow collaborator Andy Fergus in discussing our work on enabling larger projects and:

• international case studies of citizen-led projects
• how alternative development models can translate to local contexts in Australia
